NYAA Basketball 2009 – 2010
Registration opens October 1 – 30th
The NYAA offers basketball to children in grades Kindergarten thru 12th grade.
The goal of the NYAA Basketball program is to teach the fundamentals of the game, develop confidence, teach sportsmanship and have fun. We offer a Recreational League which consists of games within the NYAA same age group and other recreational leagues.
We also offer a Travel League starting at the 5th grade level for both male and females. Tryouts are required and games are played against other youth organizations within the league.
Travel Teams are organized by gender. Tryouts are required for each team. TRY OUTS will start near the end of OCTOBER. Check back for dates and times. Uniforms are distributed by team in advance of the first scheduled game and when all sports fees are paid in full. Players who do not make the Travel teams will be placed on the recreational teams within the NYAA.

K-2 co-ed instructional program: practice is held one night per week and a game on the weekend. The program is a non-competitive environment where the basic fundamentals, including dribbling, passing, rebounding, and shooting are taught. There are modified rules. Equal playing of all players is mandated and no scores are kept. The program starts after the Christmas Holiday break in January and runs until mid-March.
- Female 3rd and 4th Grade, 5th and 6th Grade, 7th and 8th Grade, 9th to 12th Grade: The program is instructional and focuses on fundamentals and rules of the game. Practices are held two nights a week and a game on the weekend against other recreational leagues. The program begins in November and runs until early March.
- Male 3rd and 4th Grade, 5th and 6th Grade, 7th and 8th Grade, 9th to 12th Grade: The program is instructional and focuses on fundamentals and rules of the game.
