2009 FOOTBALL INFORMATION

League Information:  The NYAA football program became one of the founding members of the Lehigh Valley Youth Football League in 2006. The LVYFL currently has eight organizational members:

1)      Northwestern

2) Palmerton

3) Southern Lehigh

4) Bath

5) Fullerton

6) Pleasant Valley

7) Northern Lehigh

8)     Marian Catholic

9)  Salisbury

The LVYFL currently provides organized youth football for players ranging from age 5 to 14.

The league divides the players into four age groups/weight classes:

FLAGS- Kindergarten to 1st grade (Player cannot turn 7 prior to Sept. 1st of current year)

85 lb.- 2nd to 3rd grades (Player cannot turn 9 prior to Sept. 1st of current year)

100 lb.- 4th to 5th grade (Player cannot turn 11 prior to Sept. 1st of current year)

130 lb. -  6th to 7th grade (Player cannot turn 14 prior to Sept. 1st of current year)

Although there are three designated weight classes (85lb.,100lb.,130lb.), there is no longer a designated weight limit per age group.  A new By-law was passed for 2008  allows for players that meet the age criteria, however exceed the weight class limits, to still be able to play with players their own age.  Any player who exceeds the weight limit for their age group will be limited to playing one of the 5 offensive line positions or one of 4 defensive line positions (excluding the defensive end position).  No player who exceeds the weight limit for their age group will be permitted to advance the football in any way shape or form (i.e. running back, quarterback, and receiver).  No player who exceeds the weight limit for their age group will be permitted to play anywhere in the defensive secondary (i.e. linebacker, cornerback, safety).
