Directions to fields:
1. Instructional or Prep Level - Registration Fee $60 (Reduced by $15 since 2010) The primary focus is on having fun while learning the basic fundamentals of the game. This program is designed for entry level players to learn the basics of the game. If your child is born in 2003, 2004 or 2005, this is the program they should participate in. For girls with 2 or more years playing experience and significant skills, it may be appropriate to move up to play at the 10U level. This would be an exception situation and the ultimate determination of level of play will be made by the coaches based on an assessment of each girl's development and skill level. The primary focus continues to be on enhancing skills while introducing competition and teamwork. This league is a recreational league and will play other recreational teams from the Lehigh Valley region. Teams will participate at the following levels in the Parkland Softball League: 10 and under (girls born in 2001 and 2002), 12 and under (girls born in 1999 and 2000), 14 and under (girls born in 1997 and 1998), and 18U (girls born in 93-96). Competition, while not as intense as the Lehigh Valley League, is still a component of this league. The Parkland League has minimum playing time rules and all players must be in the batting lineup to ensure active participation opportunities for all. If you are a member of a tournament travel team, such as the Flames, you cannot participate in this league. The Parkland League strives to balance competition by creating 2 divisions per age level where team numbers allow ensuring teams made up of girls with more experience and stronger skills are matched against like teams while teams with less experienced players and less developed skills are also matched. The primary focus of the Lehigh Valley League is to continue to develop and refine softball skills for players interested in playing higher-level competitive softball, including tournament and high school level. The Lehigh Valley League is a competitive travel league for the most skilled and committed players. Games are played across the Lehigh Valley. Tryouts for this level take place in October with independent evaluators. LV Teams start practice in the winter with indoor training at Kempton. For the first time in many years, we will have a 10U LV team in addition to 12U and 14U. Lehigh Valley League games are scheduled on weekdays only (due to many players playing on weekend tournament teams).
