Volleyball Frequently Asked Questions:

 

When does the program run?

NYAA has 3 Volleyball programs:

  • The fall program runs for 10 weeks from early September to mid Nov. This is for middle school children grades 5 thru 8. They meet 2 times during the week plus Saturdays.
     

  • The Winter Program runs for 10 weeks. It runs for 3 weeks in Dec. Stops for the holidays and then picks up again in Jan and runs for an additional 7 weeks. There are 2 groups. The middle school group and a high school group. Practice is held 2 times a week and games are on Saturday Mornings.
     

  • The Spring program runs mid March to End of April.  This is a once a week open gym program.

Note: exact times and days are determined by availability of gym space.

What do I need to buy?

The only thing we require is all children need to purchase Kneepads.

What about Shirts?

The NYAA provides each child with a shirt during the fall and winter seasons. 
They may keep this shirt.

Where are the practices held?

We have been having the majority of the practices in the community center at Jacobs Church in Jacksonville. This is on Rt. 143 close to Leaser Lake

Is there Tryouts for the teams?

NOT For the NYAA programs. We do not cut children. The program is more of an instructional program. . All kids play.  If a child wishes to get into a more competitive program there is AAU tournament teams that they may try out for.  See above ref web site for this information.

Do you Play other teams?

We have in the past played other teams and if scheduling permits we try to scrimmage other teams.

Is there a Varsity Team at Northwestern High School?

No. Presently there is an intramural program at the high school level. The goal is to have a varsity team within a couple of years.

Who is running the program?

Currently the program is run by Keith Nagle 610-298-3275,

What is the cost?

The current (2007/8) cost is $55 for the Fall and Winter programs.  Spring is $20.  There are options to offset some of this cost if you do a Fundraiser. Fundraisers are different each season.

What happens in inclement weather?

The general rule has been if the school closes or dismisses early due to inclement weather, There is no practice. If the school has a delay, there is practice. Saturdays- If the Saturday session needs to be cancelled, your coach will contact you.

How can I help?

Volunteer. The NYAA is a volunteer organization. We need people to help out with each sport and with the organization. Ask your coach, director or board members what you can do. If you want to help coach, please provide security information form from state of PA.
